Like with all lighthouses perched atop cliffs with a guiding light to keep ship travellers safe, the Avalon Lighthouse is perched atop Bangalley Head and as its name suggests, this abundantly light home makes you feel safe as you watch the waves crash against the renowned Avalon Headland profile and look to the ocean beyond.
The approach to this home fills you with a sense of arriving somewhere that is very far away from the northern beaches with its accents of Africa, Morocco and Greece. Architect designed with heated concrete floors and a curved light filled stair well, this home is simply stunning in every way. Upon entering this beautiful and worldy space you are greeted by a sense of calm and feel immediately welcome.
The kitchen is the epicentre which has eye lines to the pool, dining/living area, covered outdoor area with wood fired pizza oven, garden and dramatic cliffs that greet the pacific ocean. A rumpus room with TV onlooks the pool and provides a separate area to watch tv.
An outdoor shower is on hand if you choose to go for a swim at nearby Avalon Beach which is only a five minute walk away. So too are the North Avalon shops if you feel like a morning breakfast out at cafe Relish.
Although feeling miles away from anywhere yet close to Avalon, you will feel you have been guided through a delightful stay where you felt you were safely at sea or at the very least in an amazing home on the edge of a very beautiful world.

Bedarra Island Villa
Found on the secluded East Bedarra Island in Queensland, where the white sand beaches wrap around turquoise water framed by shady palm trees is the tropical paradise of Bedarra Island Villa. Located on the world famous Australian Great Barrier Reef, this is a signature property where you can experience a truly sultry oasis.
You will find the stunning Bedarra Island Villa positioned near the waters edge on a private two-acre estate that wraps around a palm-framed white sand beach in Doorila Cove an area long considered by prominent artists, photographers, and writers as the most beautiful beach on the island. The property enjoys absolute beach frontage so it is the ideal location for you to swim or snorkel for hours in the warm, clear, turquoise waters of the Coral Sea and explore the hundreds of different fish native to this area. There are kayaks, snorkeling gear, and fishing reels and rods to be used at your disposal throughout the duration of your stay.
The home itself features a functional design interior by renowned architect Robert Davidov that you will find to be languidly relaxed, yet comfortably modernist. An open plan lounge and dining area expands outwards to a large deck, all of which enjoy a stunning view of the Coral Sea and the distant islands, extending to the oceans of the Great Barrier Reef, the South Pacific, and beyond. The villa features three large bedrooms so it can comfortably sleep up to four guests between superior quality linen sheets. An outdoor shower and toilet ensure that you can rinse off outside after your day at the beach. An adjoined studio house that sleeps an additional four guests and originally built by the prominent artist Noel Wood in the early 20th century is also included in the property. Later renovated by Ian Moore, the studio lovingly maintains many of the original features pre-renovation. A gin and cognac bottle feature wall, a stone fireplace, bamboo paneling and a collection of original bamboo furniture items handmade by Mr. Wood all lend a unique atmosphere to the studio.
There are only a small number of private homes on East Bedarra Island and there is absolutely no public access so you will never see any day-trippers or camera-happy tourists. Travelling to Bedarra Island will be relished by those who love a sense of adventure. This is a true getaway in every sense of the word, and once you arrive you will feel as though you have landed in another world. You will be able to relax and unwind in seclusion, but not isolation. Our caretakers will await your arrival by boat to help you land on your own island in the sun.
