Behind the brand
Catering for babies to toddlers, June Baby concentrates on simple, timeless pieces, which are comfortable to wear and have an impeccable cut (they are manufactured by seamstresses in a small, ethical and family-run workshop in Vietnam which concentrates on luxury baby clothing). The finish and detail of the garments in every collection are also exactly what you’d expect from a French clothing owner. Verane, who moved to Bondi Beach with her Vietnamese husband, started the label two years ago following the birth of her daughter Nîne Vu Hong. She was exasperated at the lack of European children’s clothing in Australia so started her own quality clothing with a ‘responsible’ background.
Why we love it
Verane claims her garmets are “nothing extraordinary.” But many parents beg to differ. There’s a touch of French sophistication to these simple, classic outfits that isn’t replicated in many children’s labels. A former marketing manager for a fashion and luxury magazine, Verane had little experience in the world of designing children’s clothing yet she’s made a big success of her business in such a short space of time, thanks to her practical outlook and her ability to tune in perfectly with her target market. The Gaston shirt is very popular while the floral dresses are also a big winner.
