Behind the brand
French fashion buyer Elise Pioch turned candlemaker launched Maison Balzac in 2012. After stints at Hermes in Paris and Belinda in Sydney, the chic creative has worked in collaboration with Australian makers and perfumers to ensure a complete olfactory experience with the range. Inspired by her childhood in the South of France, the bespoke scents such as L’Eglise and Le Soleil evoke memories of the village she grew up in and are captured in wax for us all to enjoy.

It’s no wonder Maison Balzac has been picked up by 10 Corso Como in Milan and colette in Paris, as everything about this colourful candle collection is perfection; from the way the perfumes take us on a journey to the beautifully designed packaging. A nod to her family’s connection to Honoré de Balzac, the great French writer, it’s fitting Elise’s signature scents should also tell a story. Having started as a kitchen table business to one with over 80 worldwide stockists in such a short time is an inspiration and a testament to the quality of her products. Ensuring the brand stays relevant, Elise Pioch partners with other artists and designers to add new products to the range, making Maison Balzac more than worthy of shelf space beside Cire Trudon and Diptyque Paris.
