The Tale Of Heidi Moore-Gill And Jemima Storch

If you log onto artist Heidi Moore-Gill’s website, Bespoke Balloonery, you'll find it describes her and her talented team as “experts in joy”. It couldn’t be a more fitting description. She’'s the dynamic woman behind those wonderful, whimsical balloons covered in tulle or decorated with colourful tassels you might have seen popping up at weddings, parties or on Instagram. “It all just came together as a little experiment and has extended to concepts, paintings, calligraphy, visual merchandising and packaging,” says Moore-Gill of Bespoke Balloonery. The creative mother lives in Sydney's Woollahra with her husband James, 10-year-old daughter Jemima and dog Pepper. Their beautiful home is incredibly warm and inviting (there'’s even a ladder which leads up to the attic where Jemima has her secret hideaway and Moore-Gill her studio). “I’'d describe our home as calm, a little bit traditional, warm and human,” she says. Her daughter often helps out with Bespoke Balloonery, but Friday night is their night together: "I want to teach my daughter to be compassionate, above all to be kind, to know herself and to believe in herself." On motherhood, she says: “It has taught me that my heart has an infinite capacity for unconditional love.”

Heidi’s little list of loves:
Reading in bed together, all four of us.
Long trail runs in national parks four hours from Sydney.
Painting my watercolours.
My new meditation: Calligraphy.
Melted honey with cinnamon and thyme from Bread & Circus.
My gardenias which are in flower and my fig tree which is coming back to health.
A little time for myself when I find it – endlessly renewing!
Wearing my Delfina Delettrez bee earrings.

I want to teach my daughter to be compassionate

Above all to be kind, to know herself and to believe in herself.

I love relaxed trousers and jeans with fancy shirts...

A little tiny heel and I always love to wear jewellery and a little make-up.

My bedroom is my favourite space in our home...

I love the light, the colours, the heirlooms and the big soft bed. Jemima’s room is restful, comforting, lilac, feminine and crowded.

Friday night is girls night...

Reading together, talking in the bath, watching her activities and listening to what she tells me. We love going to the movies together. It’s our favourite thing to do.

I love to gild, embellish and jewel...

I love fancies and nostalgia. Bespoke Balloonery all just came together as a little experiment and has extended to concepts, paintings, calligraphy, visual merchandising and packaging. I love the endless renewal of my job. I adore her sweetness, patience and humour.

The hardest part of being a mother is not always being able to be there...

I’m most proud of my resilience and drive. I think we all do our best job, there is no ‘perfect mother’. Motherhood has taught me that my heart has an infinite capacity for unconditional love.
