Little girls rooms - such fun to decorate and not such fun to tidy up! There are so many beautiful decorative items to transform a girly (or shared sibling) bedroom to an imaginative, whimsical and happy space...
Our little girls grow up too fast, so we’ve chosen some items we’re loving right now that are a mix of good investment pieces for toddler through to teen bedrooms, plus some sweet little instant updates (cue fairy lights and rows of bunting). This is what little girls room dreams are made of… Editor: Emily Armstrong | Image: Little French
A White ‘Iron’ Bed
These vintage sourced beds from France are gorgeous and unique. The cast-iron is obviously better for older girls and wonderful at creating a beautiful room with a hint of nostalgia. We also the Mia bed from Incy Interiors. And an affordable alternative for younger girls is the Minnen bed from Ikea with three settings so the bed can grow with your toddler through the next stages.

A Rug For All Seasons
From tea parties through to teen secrets, a rug is a great investment for your girl’s room. This neutral colour will suit any room scheme while the cut-out detail adds a timeless feminine touch with a material that suits our Sydney climate all year round.

Tick, tick
We might spend a lot of time looking at our digital devices to check the time, but remember that our kids don’t. So whether they’re a toddler or a teenager, don’t forget to put a clock in their room. “Clocks can be as good for numeracy as books are for literacy. They build awareness of time that grows as your child grows, from counting to telling the time, to managing their own time and schedules,” says Alison Oldfield, founder of Clocksicle. We adore her range of clocks which your kids will love as much as you do.

Wallpaper!
We are big fans of wallpaper. Maybe a little obsessed. Paper every wall, not just one! Then pare back the other elements of the room – contrast pattern with stripe, colour with white, and don’t be afraid to mix prints too. We adore this pretty woodland print that is just perfect for nurseries through to teen rooms.
Canopy
A dusty pink canopy – yes please, can we hide away here too? Such a lovely imaginative edition to your little girl’s room and whether set up over the bed or in a reading corner, there’s sure to be some cosy, imaginative play/sleep time.

String Lights
Creating magic pre bedtime always helps! A little girls room isn’t complete without some fairy lights festooned across bed heads, mirrors, teepees or canopies. From the classic frosted white lights for older girls, to these fun flamingos, string lights add some serious sparkle. Play it safe and choose LED electric or battery operated depending on placement.
SHOP: Sunnylife lights, $37
Bunting
A row of bunting is such an affordable and easy-to-hang way to add some charm and personality to your daughter’s bedroom. We love this subtle blush colour way as a respite from the saccharine soaked girls room decor options.
