If you are wondering what to give (or better yet receive) this Mother’s Day, how does the breathtaking Dior couture-inspired Pret-A-Portea at The Berkeley hotel sound?
You can whet your appetite with a visit to the hit Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams exhibition, just down the road at the V&A museum. It is the largest ever show of the French couturier’s work, featuring everything from Princess Margaret’s 21st birthday dress to Jennifer Lawrence’s red-carpet couture. And then follow it up with a veritable couture feast at the five-star Berkeley hotel, launched to coincide with the exhibition. There’s legendary New Look ‘Bar’ jacket biscuits, red velvet cakeLady Dior handbags and a Miss Dior Eau de Parfum raspberry and lychee confection. You can even tuck into little J’Adior slingbacks – fashion has never tasted so good. Well, as Christian Dior himself said: “Happiness is the secret to all beauty. There is no beauty that is attractive without happiness.” So here’s to happiness! Just what we need to ward off the winter blues. From February 13 to July 14 in the Collins Room at The Berkeley from 1pm to 5.30pm daily, priced £58 per person. (020 7107 8866, www.the-berkeley.co.uk/restaurants-bars/afternoon-tea)
