When she’s not tending to her private clients or popular group classes at her dynamic studio spaces in Sydney, you can find her at home keeping things afloat for her family by being as organised (and clean!) as possible. Here’s a typical day in her life. Editor: Marisa Remond | Go to www.fluidformpilates.com.au
My alarm is set for 5:45am every morning, I have always been someone who wakes up easily and is ready to go...
I don’t check emails or social media when I wake up, I used to but found 10 minutes would pass and I was still in bed. That lost 10 minutes meant no me time for my morning coffee. Instead, I’m straight up and into the bathroom to get ready. I then get dressed, do my hair and makeup, and when I leave the bathroom I am ready to go to work all within 30 minutes. I always lay my clothes out the night before because I am the first one up and I am often out the door before my girls wake up. Breakfast is usually Flat Tummy Superfood Burcha – it’s delicious and keeps me full until after lunch. I always cleanse with my Cosmedix purity clean from The Clinic. I use Societe Vitamin C and The Clinic moisturiser. In terms of makeup, I use Giorgio Armani Silk Foundation or Ellis Faas, some NARS Bronzer and Blush, Charlotte Tilbury Illuminator and mascara and Bare Minerals lip gloss. I typically wear activewear, I have drawers and drawers full of black Lululemon and PE Nation leggings, crops, tanks, and T-shirts.
Being organised the night before is key...
My girls’ clothes are laid out on their bed, lunches are packed. And on the mornings I drop all three girls off, I always make sure I am ready before I wake them. On a typical workday, I usually grab a coffee at 6:20am on my way to the studio, arrive at the studio by 6:40am and start teaching at 7am. If I am particularly tired there is always a coffee run around 9am, too. We serve ginger tea in the studio so we can sip on this as we need. It’s perfect for keeping you feeling alert.
I tend to wipe down and clean the bathroom each morning before I leave for work, and I vacuum and mop my floors every night once my girls are in bed...
I find if I do something every day it never gets out of hand. Actually, the washing basket can start to take over the house from time to time but I have Fridays off so I use that day to fold and sort out all of the washing. I am a little bit of a clean freak. My teaching day starts at 7am and finishes at 4pm. I have 16 amazing instructors in the studio and at any given time there is up to five of us working. I teach a combination of private clients and small group classes. I really enjoy working with my instructors and I feel we all benefit from working together. On my day off I box with Transpose Fitness in North Bondi but on my working days, I exercise at the end of the day.
When I am working, snacking is the only option as I work back to back with clients from 7am till 4pm...
Nuts are a big favourite in the studio because they are quick and healthy. At home, we tend to snack on hummus and corn biscuits or baby cucumbers. I do try to have homemade protein balls and banana bread in the fridge for tie-over snacks, too. Lunch is usually rice paper rolls or avocado on toast.
My inbox is like my worst nightmare... it's a never ending folder of questions that never seem to be answered...
Put it this way, it haunts me 24/7 and I wake every night around 2am and do 90 minutes of emails before I can go back to sleep. I try to keep on top of everything with lists. I love lists, you always know where you are at and what needs to be done. I tend to make all of my important decisions when I am driving to work.
After 4pm, I begin my Mummy duties of school/daycare pick up, dinner, bath, books and bed! Dinner is usually a protein and a warm veggie salad. We eat a lot of quinoa too...
I tend to make at least two meals every night! My baby Harper is our best eater so she always eats what we have, but my two big girls Charlie and Willow tend to be more simple eaters, Charlie, in particular, survives on a “white diet” ( white bread, rice, pasta, biscuits, yoghurt and cheese). The girls love it when I sit down and eat with them and I find they always eat better when I do. I am trying to get better at not working when I get home but sometimes I have to. I really never stop working! I recently opened a second studio space within La Porte Wellness in Sydney’s Rosebery, so that is keeping me busy.
A glass of red wine or tea, chocolate and an episode or two of a TV series with my husband is how I unwind at night...
With both of us working and our three girls, life can get pretty crazy so we have made this our thing to do. I’m in bed by 10pm and I use Cosmedix Purity Clean, Opti Crystal Eye Cream, Aspect Dr Redless Rescue and Intense Hydrating Balm at night. There’s nothing better!
