She’s the PR dynamo who has a self-proclaimed “never stop” rule when it comes to business, she’s also a mother of two, author, brand ambassador and Instagram star…
If you’ve ever wondered just how the founder of Sweaty Betty PR and Ministry Of Talent manages to juggle it all, here’s a typical day in the life of Roxy Jacenko. Editor: Marisa Remond
I usually wake up around 6:30am...
I’ve never been a big sleeper so I don’t find it hard to get up, I would prefer to be up doing things and making the most of the day. I check emails the minute I wake up, and throughout the night as well. I like to respond to people straight away to get on top of my inbox. I also have a responsibility to my clients and staff to be reliable and on call 24/7. We usually wake the kids up at 6:45am; it takes a bit longer to get Pixie up as she loves to sleep in. Then we have some family time in our bedroom and have a chat about what we are going to do that day. They like to watch a show on their iPad while I scroll through my Instagram feed to keep up with what the world is doing! Social media is a huge part of my business so I like to be across everything that’s happening. I will then make the kids breakfast, Vegemite on toast is their favourite at the moment. I usually eat one slice of wholemeal toast with Vegemite, a green juice and a skim piccolo. After that, it’s a rush to get Pixie and Hunter ready for school. It doesn’t take me long to get ready, I go to the gym most mornings so I throw on my exercise gear on if I’m going to the gym and run out the door! If it’s a non-gym day I’ll be out the door showered and ready in 15 minutes!
In the mornings I use...
A Sante by Enjo makeup disk in the shower to remove the night before’s moisturiser and eye cream. I occasionally do my own makeup and brush wise I love the Glam by Manicare range to apply the NARS All Day Luminous Glow Foundation or Press Play’s Liquid Foundation. I especially love their range of blushers, bronzers and highlighters. I usually finish off my look by applying a nude lipstick that I created myself at The Lip Lab. If I wake up with blemishes or a pimple I usually use Dr Natasha Cook’s pimple zapper to make it vanish. Having my makeup professionally done so regularly leaves it in need of good skin care! When it comes to hair, I get my hair blow-dried three times a week at TONI&GUY or within my own office hair salon which is a godsend. To keep it looking fresh and clean in the days in-between I use Label M dry shampoo.
Usually you would see me in a Louis Vuitton dress, a Balmain blazer or gym clothes...
I am usually out of the door in about 15 minutes by the time we get the kids and myself ready. Preparing the night before is essential. Getting everything ready including the school lunches and the uniforms makes the mornings stress free. To stay on top of things I like to do my tasks as I get them, it’s the only way to keep on top of everything and not end up overwhelmed! I am training three days a week at the moment. My sessions are very resistance/weights based which means I don’t sweat that much which is great as I head straight to work post gym. I don’t have time to go home and get ready. Luckily I have a lot of help with domestic duties at home so that happens whilst I am at work. My HUGE addiction at the moment is Killer Pythons! I don’t generally snack however I do like my afternoon hit of sugar. I will generally have two coffees in the morning and try to restrict that in the afternoon. Everything is always on the go, I don’t have time to waste to stop!
Dinner is usually...
Sushi from Raw Bar, or if I feel like Italian, Olio is amazing in Kensington St, Chippendale. For a dinner for two with Oli, I love Catalina and can’t go past Icebergs for special occasions. I unwind at night by playing with my kids, Pixie and Hunter, I love being with them, they are a laugh a minute! My favourite time of the day is home time so I can see my kids. I use 111Skin moisturiser and Dr Natasha Cook night cream on my eyes at night and usually go to bed between 11 and 12. At the moment I’m hooked on the STAN show Unreal – I can’t help watching episode after episode, and prior to that it was all about Power on Stan. Really, my favourite way to spend an evening is dinner with Oli and the kids followed by a game of Twister – we end up in stitches!
