Founder Georgie Abay Shares Her Mother’s Day Picks

Mother’s Day this year might be a little different, but if this pandemic has taught us anything, it’s just how important family time is...

Everywhere you look, instead of rushing from one social function to the next, families are enjoying the simple things – walks, bike rides, swims in the sea, sunshine. So this Mother’s Day, I’ll be enjoying the simple things in life and hopefully be spoilt with something from this wish list…

A chunky necklace

This necklace looks great layered with finer pieces and worn with a tee or shirt. Top of my list!

Pandora Chunky Infinity Knot Chain Necklace, $179

A Sleeper dress

Founded by former fashion editors Kate Zubarieva and Asya Varetsa, Sleeper is one of those brands that you’ll return to time and again. I bought a Sleeper dress last year and lived in it. This is at the top of my wish list for Mother’s Day.

Sleeper dress, $355.22

A fun canvas tote

I have a hanging pile of rotating cotton-canvas totes which I use throughout the week to cart my kids around from one activity to the next. Given the current climate, I love this bright, happy print.

Isabel Marant tote, $150.14

A day at the spa please

A friend kindly gifted me a voucher to The Day Spa By Chuan at The Langham hotel in Sydney a few months ago. For a few hours, I drifted off to another planet and walked out floating. While a day in a spa seems like a distant memory, I’d love a voucher to look forward to.

Ballet tickets - experiences over stuff

My Mum and Nan used to take me to the Australian Ballet at the Opera House when I was a child and it’s something I’ve started to do with my own girls and mother. Ballet tickets are always very welcome and while they can’t be used for a while, I’ll appreciate them even more when it’s back on.

Floral jewellery

Given how much I love a good floral print (there are some terrible ones out there), I love Pandora’s new Garden collection. This daisy ring is so sweet (and my girls are already putting dibs on who gets it when they’re older).

Pandora Sparkling Daisy Flower Crown Ring, $79

My dream artwork

I was lucky enough to purchase a Laura Jones painting when she was first beginning and I’ve followed her incredible journey ever since. I’d love another of her works – everything she does is magic.

Beautiful napkins

As I write this, we’re all practising social distancing, which means I won’t be hosting for a while. But when I do, I’d love to set the table with these heavenly napkins.

Matilda Goad napkins, set of eight, $150

Divine ceramics

I love that sites such as Matches have launched homewares. Anissa Kermiche is not only a fabulous jewellery designer, she creates the loveliest ceramics.

Anissa Kermiche jug, $329

A new handbag

It has been a while since I purchased a new handbag. This is next on my list.

Oroton satchel, $499

A new skirt

Little Tienda is run by a gorgeous mum and everything she does, I want in my wardrobe. This is my perfect shade of green right now.

Little Tienda skirt, $120

More checks

More checks, sorry I can’t help it. This trench is divine and I also love the founder of this brand Jade (I first interviewed her for VOGUE many years ago when she was just starting out).

Arnsdorf trench coat, $750
