There is nothing that says "I have it all together" like a perfectly styled tablescape. Luxe linens, elegant cutlery and delicately detailed plates ...
Unfortunately, it’s not so simple with little children pulling on you at every step pre-dinner party. Thankfully, brand new dinnerware brand, In The Roundhouse, makes it a realistic possibility. Founded by school friends Brooke Bickmore and Alyce Tran (yes, the Alyce Tran who co-founded cult accessories brand The Daily Edited), they have created a range of plates that our tables never knew they were missing. With mix-and-match styles and an affordable price point, we spoke to the team to find out about the new collection and how to master the styling of a dinner table.
Tell us a little about In The Roundhouse...
School friends Alyce Tran and Brooke Bickmore thought up homewares brand In The Roundhouse with a single focus at launch – to bring colour and delight to the dinner table through mix and match plate ware, all at an accessible price point.
What inspired the launch of In The Roundhouse?
Brooke: I remember moving home from London and having to set up a house from scratch and I didn’t want to buy white crockery, or a box set of printed matching plates, bowls and mugs and really struggled to find anything in between that I loved. Alyce agreed there was a gap in the market and we started exploring what that could look like.
After such a successful brand in The Daily Edited, what sparked the interest in creating a new label?
Alyce: I have a lot of creative energy and not all of my ideas are right for The Daily Edited (TDE), TDE has a point of view and a purpose and I definitely want to keep that branding and range really strong instead of diluting it with a ton of other things, In The Roundhouse gives me another opportunity to create product, content and brand having another project really keeps me on my toes!
Can you share some of your favourite pieces in the collection?
We love them all – which is good because they’re designed to mix and match! That way you can grow your collection over time as each new print will be made in the same size and shape so you can keep adding new additions knowing they will work with what you already own.
What do you think makes for a beautiful place setting?
We’re all about the details – a place card, a chic napkin, a variety of things to look at and feel. We do love a table with a bit of personality that still looks pulled together and that’s what you can create with our product as the sets work back well with a standard white set of crockery.
