If you're ready to embrace your body, celebrate who you are and receive a portrait from our most beloved photographer, Julie Adams, then clear your diaries for this Friday.
THIS IS ME is a raw, emotive project for women celebrating the female body, individuality and self-love. It all began when the incredible Julie Adams asked women and children to come into her studio to be photographed in their swimsuits. No retouching. Just raw, unretouched imagery. It was confronting, it was liberating, it was real. And why shouldn’t we keep it real? When did retouching and manipulating imagery become so normal? When did we accept that it was ok to digitally alter ourselves into something we’re not? Our first shoot made women confront their body issues. It made them be brave. We’ve been overwhelmed with the response to this project and are so excited to announce our next THIS IS ME portrait shoot!
All the details
We’ll be at North Steyne Surf Pavillion in Manly (the surf club half way along Manly beach, opposite Pine Street) between 10am – 4pmthis Friday 1st February. If you’d like to get involved (and we’d love you to – this project is about coming together as women and celebrating who we are), come down to say hello and get a portrait taken that you’ll treasure forever. Come alone. Bring your girlfriend. Bring your kids. Bring your Mum. Just come with a smile and make sure you’re wearing your swimming costume under your clothes. We’ll also be interviewing everyone we shoot about body image. The images will be used as part of this project which will include a book due to be released next year – which we are thrilled about. We’d love to thank everyone for their support and especially all the wonderful women who have come along to our past two shoots – we hope to meet more of you this Friday!
