On New Years Eve, Emma Paton wasn’t sipping champagne or watching fireworks. With her family farm in Corryong, North East Victoria threatened by bushfires closing in, she stood to lose everything. Sadly the fires ravaged 75% of their farm land and fencing, not to mention most of their fodder. Thankfully, her husband managed to save their cows, dairy and home, and most importantly, everyone was safe.
But the creator of Little Bobbin, her handmade clothing line for children, stays remarkably upbeat: “we are a happy bunch in our family and have been focusing on staying positive and focused on moving forward, not only for our community but to show our kids that we are capable of anything.”
And capable she is – while the devastation of the fires has delayed her production for the time being, Emma is already itching to get back into her home sewing studio. Back on the farm this week, she’s focused on paperwork and insurance, but will be ready to take orders for her popular organic cotton tees and new release of beautiful dresses as soon as possible.
