my morning routine: milk & co founder lindy klim

She’s the ultimate multi-tasking mother, juggling running lifestyle brand Milk & Co with raising three young children. Bali-based Lindy Klim reveals how she kick starts her day…

How do you start your day?
Cuddles with my children. I wake up between 6-6.30am every morning. With three little monkeys as my alarm clock, I have no choice. I am trying to learn meditation, so I will have to start waking up even earlier to allow myself time, but in Bali this isn’t hard as it’s so beautiful and warm at that time of day.

What do you eat for breakfast?
I always start with a latte and then an hour later, I will have muesli and a green juice. My stomach and taste buds can’t handle a green smoothie first thing in the morning.

Do you prefer dawn or dusk?
I love mornings in Bali as it’s so beautiful and warm, but I am much more a night person.

Can you talk us through your morning beauty routine?
It’s very quick and easy. I have a quick shower and wash my face with Milk & Co Face Cleanser and wash my body with my Milk & Co Body Scrub. I then apply a 30 + face moisturiser for hydration and sun protection. I only wear Mecca Cosmetica In A Good Light Tinted Moisturiser SPF 30 and Nars Bronzer.

Do you exercise in the morning?
After I drop the children off to school, I always spend an hour or so at the gym or I do yoga. I need to do this first thing as it clears my mind and sets me up for the day ahead. I have actually had to take a break from yoga, as I have injured my shoulder, so I can now only do light stretching. It’s still really nice for me to start my day off calmly even if I can’t get into the full yoga poses that I used to be able to do. On the weekend, I’ll start my morning with a swim in the ocean. I would love to do this everyday as there’s nothing better to kick start the day, but trying to get three kids out the door for school just doesn’t allow me the time.

Do you plan your outfit the night before?
It really depends on what I have on for the day. I don’t usually give it too much thought, but if there is a special event, I will give myself a bit more time to consider my outfit. Bali is super casual, and less is more. I never wear flashy jewellery and spend my days in denim shorts and Havaianas. I actually don’t even think about what I put on, it is usually whatever is at the top of the pile. I also live in swimmers – my faves are We Are Handsome, Lisa Marie Fernandez and Zimmermann. I am a completely different person when I am in the Western world! I do love fashion and I am so fortunate that I can have the best of both worlds. I love to dress up when I go out but my day-to-day look is more structured: skinny jeans, a T-shirt, a blazer and flats. I love my Rag & Bone, Acne and Superfine jeans. I have dozens of Acne T-shirts manly in black and white. I love Australian brands such as Ellery, Dion Lee, Toni Maticevski and Viktoria and Woods.
