Given this is a pregnancy shoot, were trying to emphasise Kate Waterhouses bump. The only thing is, shes teeny tiny. At six months pregnant, the journalist, style blogger, media personality, radio talent and columnist for The Sun-Herald is about to enter her third trimester, but her bump is as petite as she is. That said, look closely and theres a little bump budding, which means shes had to rethink her personal style. I keep thinking oh Ill wear this and that from my wardrobe because it would be perfect for a certain occasion and then I remember that nothing fits around the waist anymore. The solution? Shes switched structured looks for shift dresses (other than her beloved Balenciaga skirt, which has stretched with her growing tummy). Its hardly surprising that she makes pregnancy look so glamorous as a member of Australias racing royalty, Waterhouse is known for her immaculate sense of style and a bump hasnt changed this. Her style advice for expectant mothers? Wear what you feel comfortable in and even though you are changing shape, you can still use accessories, bags and shoes to incorporate your signature style.
Pregnancy pampering comes in the form of KORAs rosehip oil and body cream and blueberry antioxidant peels at The Clinic in Bondi Junction every few months (its a great exfoliant). Shes focused on keeping fit throughout her pregnancy, with a relaxed regime that includes a morning walk, Pilates or a personal training class at Flow Athletic in Sydneys Paddington.
Waterhouse has been busy working on revamping her website. Im turning my blog katewaterhouse.com into a virtual styling website to inspire women to become their most confident self. I am getting experts within their fields to help women become the best they can be by giving advice on everything from wardrobe, nutrition, fitness, beauty and social etiquette, she says. All this, before the baby comes. I want to launch my new site before I give birth and there is still plenty of work to be done, so its taking up all my time at the moment.
On editing a website, Waterhouse says: I love having that interaction with readers. As a fashion editor for seven years and having my weekly Date with Kate column in the Sun-Herald, you dont have that connection with your readers so I love being able to use my blog as vessel for that.
Due early June, Waterhouse hasnt started setting up the nursery just yet, although she adores everything on offer at Jacadi and Pottery Barn. Im a little bit behind but not knowing the sex makes it a little difficult. On what shes most excited about, she says: I cant wait to see my husband as a father, as hes wanted to be a Dad for a long time. He will be a really beautiful father and Im excited to see that and go on this journey with him, as a family.
