After over a year of living in loungewear, dressing up has never felt more joyful.
And that sensation is at the heart of Oroton’s Spring-Summer 21 collection, aptly titled The Optimist. An ode to new energy and to joyfulness, Creative Director Sophie Holt said “We’re still living in an uncertain world, but I think it’s made us more resolved than ever to focus on the positive, to look to the future. It’s about embracing colour and whimsy, to wear something special, anything that makes you feel happy. I love the idea that we are all starting to feel energised again, that we’re all looking ahead.”
At their AAFW show, Oroton fans were treated to architectural silhouettes in a palette of brights (not a tracksuit pant in sight) – Turmeric, Mango, and Smoke Blue were seen on voluminous dresses, belted smocks, and in a joyful clash of textures and prints that bring the collection’s theme to life. “We were thinking about spending an afternoon outside in the garden, how it felt, and as always, colour was our starting point”, Holt said.
Inspiration, it seems, can sometimes be found in your own backyard…
