It’s less than two weeks to go until Christmas. We can’t believe it either. Where has the year gone? We’re sure you’ve already started shopping, but have you thought about what’s on your wish list (other than kids’ sleeping)? We always ask for a new fragrance at Christmas and top of our list is the new Dior J’adore Absolu (and not just because we adore actor Charlize Theron and she’s been the face of the brand’s flagship fragrance for the past 14 years)…
Theron stars in the new Dior J’adore Absolu campaign, which was inspired by the painting The Turkish Bath by Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres and features the modern goddess bathing in a pool of gold, surrounded by a diverse mix of ethereal women. It’s too beautiful for words – and so is the fragrance. An enduring classic, Dior J’adore was first created in 1999 through the nose Calice Becker. A tribute to Christian Dior’s passion for flowers (he once said: “after women, flowers are the most lovely thing God has given the world”), and a symbol of “absolute, sophisticated and glamorous femininity”, the original blend of ylang-ylang, Turkish rose, jasmine and tuberose quickly became a favourite and it’s still one of the bestselling perfumes in France and is constantly reinventing itself, hence the launch of J’adore Absolu.
The scent is truly divine, but what makes us love it, even more, is that it’s “an ode to women, united and stronger together.” It couldn’t be a more apt fragrance for right now. Back to the scent: J’adore Absolu brings to life the floral and fruity notes of Grasse jasmine, a beautifully fragrant flower which expresses the olfactory expertise of Parfums Christian Dior. The flowers chosen must be hand-picked in the first rays of sun, giving them time to reopen and reveal their “fruity, apricot accents with the coming of the cool, humid evening air,” explains Dior Perfumer-Creator François Demachy. We told you it was divine. Demachy wanted to “express the beauty of the multiple facets” of this celebrated perfumed flower. The elegant bottle is as spectacular as the scent – adorned with an organic wave on its iconic gold neck, a subtle reinterpretation that brings to life the figure-eight silhouette designed by Christian Dior for his first collection in 1947. Add to your wish list now, mamas.
